Google Search Console was known as the Google webmaster tool. It is the basic tool used in the process of search engine optimization. It acts as a communication media between the user and google and also as a free resource provided by Google. Using this platform, google can alert users about mistakes and errors in a webpage. Google treats the search console as a mock point.
Search Console enables SEO activities in a controlled manner. It helps you easily target specific countries, audiences, and languages and also helps you find device compatibility, mobile compatibility, and browser compatibility issues.
First, copy the URL and go to Search Console. The Google ID you use to log into Search Console must match your Google Gmail ID. After that, automatic verification takes place. Otherwise, a check should be performed. When you go to Search Console, you'll see two options: domain and URL prefix. Include the URL in the URL prefix because you are including the subdomain. Press the Next button. Click Properties to check. Select the URL check option and paste the URL. Click Enter. If you get a message that the URL is not available, click Test Live, then click Enter. It shows that the URL is available. Then click Request indexing. The page will now be crawled.
As part of our SEO, we use a sitemap, an XML document containing all the URLs related to this web page. Includes details such as frequency changes, last modified date, and URL priority. A sitemap makes it easier for Google to understand and crawl this web page. The maximum file size is 10MB, anything larger than that will be invalid. The maximum number of URLs in a sitemap is 50000. To exceed this limit, URLs can be categorized. Google can understand an XML document in seconds faster than an HTML file which takes 30 minutes or more. Customized XML files are easy for users to understand.
Search Console offers five ways to verify ownership. They are:
HTML file validation
Validating HTML files is the most recommended method. Changing meta tags, templates, analytics, or design will not cause significant problems. Communication with Search Console is not interrupted. Google provides an HTML file that must be uploaded to the root of your website. Then click the "Confirm" button. Validation is done.
HTML tag validation
Search Console provides HTML meta tags that you need to copy. Go to your website settings, select your theme, and paste the meta tag into the HTML head section before the first body section. Then click the "Confirm" button.
Google Analytics
It is a free resource from google for the process of SEO. It provides complete details about the website visits, the interaction time of users, and more information regarding the resources. Verification can be done using the Analytics code
Google tag
This method uses Google Tag Manager. Google tags are rendered as container snippets. The Tag Manager ID is used to verify ownership. A tag manager is JavaScript code that can be placed in the header and body. So all changes and fixes can be included without knowing the details of the coding.
Domain name provider
Purchase a domain name from a domain name provider such as godaddy.com or namecheap.com. Copy the text provided by Search Console into the DNS data entry option. Then click the "Confirm" button. Verification completed.
